A Day in the Life of Bofin Weaves

A damp wet day…perfect day to head to the loom…so I thought. As we all know, our daily lives seem to always change our “well made plans”. Moving of lambs this morning was top of the agenda, for some! I changed my schedule and headed off bright and early. Yep, “only a half an hour” I was told. As you can guess, that time line didn’t go to plan…neither did the sheep. Two hours later, I was ready to catch up on my schedule and return to the loom.

Nope…not yet. I had to head to the local shop, as we all do, to get few bits. Living on an island of 160 people, you pretty much know everyone. The quick trip to the shop , well let’s say , wasn’t to quick after the chat. An hour later and I was ready.

Popped into mom on my way to the studio, and if you know my mother, it’s not a quick “how’s things?”. As I backed out her door saying goodbye for the 3rd time, I managed to escape after a good half an hour. Headed off to the studio.

Opened the studio door and turned on the radio…the 3 o’clock news was just ending. I sat down in front of my loom and smiled…a day in the life of Bofin Weaves will never be the same every day…and that to me is “heaven”.

#madelocal/#madetolast

The Christmas season has begun. Yes, in full swing! Black Friday ads…Cyber Monday sales. I like the idea of shop local. In this country of amazing artisans a unique gift crafted and made local is something no sale or discount can give you.

DCCI has organised a Made Local Christmas campaign for 2024 to shop local. As a member , I am behind this idea 100% so check out my social media promoting this campaign along with other crafters!! So look for the Made Local logo!

Trip to Belfast

The Inishbofin Craft Group headed off with the Shared Island Programme to Belfast to meet up with the other participants. An amazing weeked kicking off with a visit to the Ulster Museum. A lovely exhibition of tapestries were displayed and then off for a bit of retail therapy before we headed to Stormont for a tour and lunch in the long room.

Saturday we got the opportunity to have a stall to sell our products at the iconic St George's Market…a treat! Tours of the Titanic and bus tour of the city were also offered to the groups. What an effort put in by the ladies of Ballymac in organising this weekend.

Friendships that will last beyond this Shared Island Initiative ❤️
